Abstract: This experimental study aimed to evaluate the effects of doses of controlled-release fertilizer (ALL) on the development of rubber tree rootstocks. The fertilizer used was Osmocote , scheduled to be released for 8-9 months and with the following composition: N (15%), P2O5 (9%), K2O (12%), Mg (1%), S (2.3%), B (0.02%), Cu (0.05%), Fe (1%), Mn (0.06%), Mo (0.02%) and Zn (0.05%). A randomized block design was used, with four treatments and eight replicates of 20 plants per plot. The controlled-release fertilizer was added to Rendimax Floreira substrate at doses of 0, 3, 6 and 9 g per liter, and rootstocks were produced in plastic containers with a capacity of two liters of substrate. Three seeds of clone GT 1 were scattered in each container and thinning was performed on day 60, leaving the most vigorous plant only. After the fourth leaf shot from each rootstock, the containers of each treatment were topped, due to compaction, with 300 mL of the relevant fertilizer and substrate mixture. The rootstocks were evaluated at eight months of age as to height, stem diameter (DC) 5 cm above root collar, total dry matter, shoot and root dry matter, leaf nutrient levels and percentage of plants suitable for grafting (DC≥1.0 cm). Results revealed that adequate development and nutrition of rootstocks was achieved by using 6 g of controlled-release fertilizer per liter of substrate.

Abstract: the soil born diseases cause expressive losses in passion fruit crops in brazil. the use of resistant rootstocks is an alternative to control these diseases. several wild species of passifloraceae have presented resistance to soil born pathogens, but their utilization as rootstock from seeds has been limited mainly by differences of thickness between the rootstock and the graft of the commercial cultivars. these limitations could be reduced using herbaceous cuttings as rootstock. in these experiments, herbaceous cuttings has been collected from passiflora setacea (source ec-ps 1), p. nitida (source ec-pn 1), p. caerulea (source ec-pc 1), p. actinia (source ec-pa 1) and a f1 hybrid between p. setacea x p. edulis f. flavicarpa (commercial cultivars) and treated with acetic naphthalene acid (ana) at 500 mg/l and kept in moisture greenhouse. the graftings (lateral grafting) were made at 40, 55 and 70 days after the collecting and planting of the cuttings. the evaluations were made at 145 and 150 days after the cutting planting determining the percentages of living grafts and sprouting grafts and length of the sprout graft. the grafting on rooted-herbaceous cutting of p. nitida and f1 hybrid was technically viable for passion fruit-seedling production.

Abstract: This study evaluated the initial growth and the establishment potential of twelve hevea clones cultivated in Paracatu,Minas Gerais State. Randomized blocks were used in a scheme of subdivided parcels with four repetitions; the parcels were composedby 12 hevea clones (Hevea brasiliensis Müell Arg.) (PB 235, PR 255, IAN 3193, IAN 3087, IAN 3156, IAN 2880, RRIM 600, RRIM701, PR 107, IAC 15, IPA 1 and GT 1), planted in a 10 x 2 m spacing. The sub parcels represented the four annual evaluations. Theplant survival, the stem circumference and plant height were evaluated until five years old. The data were submitted to analysis ofvariance and average tested through Scott-Knott with 5% of probability. Hevea clones presented different establishment potential inthe studied region. The clones RRIM 600, GT 1, IAC 15, LCB 510 and IAN 2880 presented 100% survival rates but they did notpresented differences between the stem circumference and height of the tree at five years old.
